No. 24 David Van Ostrand Infielder, L/R, Senior 6-6, 230 Richmond, B.C, Canada (McMath Secondary/Hancock College) 2009: Medical redshirt ... did not play due to illness ... seeking a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA ... if granted, is expected to challenge for starting nod at first base ... played summer ball for the San Luis Obispo Blues and hit .350 with 12 doubles and a team-leading 25 RBI. 2008: A .212 hitter in first season as a Mustang with seven hits, including three doubles ... knocked in six runs ... in doubleheader against Alabama on Feb. 23, had a hit and two RBIs in each game, including a double and three walks in the opener ... also hit doubles against Washington and Fresno State ... played summer ball for West Coast Cave Ducks in Coquitlam near Vancouver, B.C, going 9-for-13 in a midseason tournament and 5-for-7 in a doubleheader against the Seattle Studs.
