2009: Started first 24 games as a true freshman at second base before sitting out USC contest due to illness ... broke his collarbone in a collision with a San Francisco baserunner May 2 and missed the rest of the season ... earned Big West Freshman Player of the Year honors and first-team All-Big West ... sported a .375 batting average with a 23-game hitting streak (third longest in Cal Poly Division I history) snapped by UC Santa Barbara on April 24 ... 35-for-89 (.393) during streak with 24 RBIs ... led team with 15 doubles, nine home runs, including a grand slam at Pepperdine on March 10, and 53 RBI prior to injury ... six consecutive two-hit games during hitting streak ... 17 multiple-hit games and 13 multiple-RBI contests ... 6-for-13 in UC Irvine series, 7-for-13 in Houston series, 8-for-12 in Cal State Bakersfield series and 5-for-12 in Pacific series with three double and two homers ... reached base 16 times in 19 plate appearances in four-game Cal State Bakersfield series ... earned numerous postseason honors, landing a spot on the 2009 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Sporting Goods Division I West Region First Team, Baseball America’s Freshman All-American First Team, Collegiate Baseball Newspaper’s 2009 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team and the 2009 Pro-Line Athletic/National College Baseball Writers Association Division I Freshman All-American First Team ... did not play summer ball as he continued his recovery from the fractured clavicle.

Prep: A four-year varsity letter winner and starter in the infield under head coach Jeff Prieto at Clovis East High ... expected to start at second base as a true freshman at Cal Poly ... All-Tri-River Athletic Conference honors all four years and also earned All-Valley and All-Regional honors ... named a third-team All-American ... hit .458 as a senior with six doubles, five triples, eight home runs, 21 RBIs and 36 runs scored as Timberwolves reached semifinal round of CIF-Central Section Division I playoffs ... on the mound was 5-3 with a 2.29 ERA, striking out 55 batters in 52 innings with two complete games and one shutout ... played in 2008 Fresno City/County All-Star Game, striking out the side in the first inning ... as a junior hit .239 with 10 RBIs and posted 2-4 win-loss record and 2.69 ERA with 53 strikeouts in 49.1 innings ... also a standout football player at Clovis East, playing the running back and linebacker positions ... three-year varsity letter winner in football, leading Timberwolves to CIF-Central Section Division I championship and pair of league titles ... drafted in the 11th round by the Seattle Mariners in June 2008 ... a Kids Day Volunteer and member of Community of Readers.
