2009: Pitched in 11 games, including four starts, as a true freshman ... 0-1 record and 9.64 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 23.1 innings ... first collegiate game was a one-inning relief stint at Houston on March 6; he did not allow a run with one hit and one strikeout ... pitched three scoreless innings against eventual Big West champion UC Irvine on March 28, one scoreless inning against both Cal State Northridge on April 5 and USC on May 5 and secured one out in NCAA Tempe Regional game against Oral Roberts on May 29 ... career-high four strikeouts against Pepperdine on March 10 ... surrendered seven home runs, including two each against Pepperdine, Cal State Bakersfield and Fresno State ... in summer ball was 2-1 with a 2.50 ERA for San Luis Obispo Blues ... appeared in 13 games, all in relief, striking out 28 batters in 18 innings ... opponents hit just .229.
