Head Coach Joe Callero on Lewis:"Shawn is one of the most athletic players at Cal Poly and in the Big West. He is a good scorer, however his defense and rebounding will be needed most this season."

Sophomore (2008-09): Played and started in all 28 games... averaged 11.7 points and 5.0 rebounds... Scored in double figures 19 games... scored a season-high 26 points against UC Davis.. Hit nine of 15 from the field... Hit four three-pointers in two games... Against UC Santa Barbara and UC Riverside... Had two double-doubles with 17 points and 10 rebounds against Fresno State and 11 points and 10 rebounds against Pacific.... Added two nine-rebound games coming against UC Riverside in the final game of the season and against UC Santa Barbara... Shot 40 percent from the floor and 36 from long range... converted 48 of 64 from the line (.750)... Started and played in all 16 conference games... averaged 12.4 points and 6.4 rebounds... scored in double figures in 12 of the 16 games... Shot 39 percent from the floor in BWC games and grabbed 6.3 rebounds... Made 73 percent of his shots from the line..

Freshman (2007-08): Played in 27 games starting in five.... Named to the Big West Conference All-Freshmen Team when he averaged 4.9 points and 2.2 rebounds... Played in first game as a Mustang on Nov. 9 against UMass scoring five points with three rebounds... Earned first start as a Mustang on Feb. 23 at Fresno State and scored a season-high 14 points with five rebounds, hitting six of 14 shots from the floor... Went on to start five of the last six games ... Added two other double-figure games; 12 points at home against UC Irvine (Feb. 7) and 10 points at Cal State Northridge (March 8)... In the game against UC Irvine all his points came on four three-pointers... Grabbed five or more rebounds six times including season-high seven at UC Davis on Feb. 20... Hit 40 percent from the floor and 37 percent from long range... solid at the line hitting 71 percent...

High School: 2007 graduate of Bishop O’Dowd High School and played for head coach Doug Vierra... Helped lead the Dragons to a 26-7 record as a senior and to the Division III state title game, where they fell 91-64 to nationally ranked Artesia of Lakewood... As a senior Lewis averaged 20 points, eight rebounds and three assists... For his efforts he was named to the All-State Third Team.. Second Team All-Northern California... Hayward Area Athletic League Co-Player of the Year... All East Bay Boys Basketball - Player of the Year... Named MVP in The Sir Francis Drake High School Div. III Tournament.... Selected to the Oakland Tribune 2006/2007 All Tower Team

Personal: Born Shawn Michael Lewis on April 20, 1989 in Oakland, CA... Son of Kermit Lewis and Hazel Johnson ... Brother, Larry Johnson and sister Kandyce Lewis ... Biggest influence on life as an athlete: My father and mother because they have always been there for me, pushing me to do well and telling me to never give up no matter how difficult things may seem. My grandmother who passed away a few years ago also had a big influence on my life. She is still one of my main sources of motivation... Majoring in business at Cal Poly.
