SAN LUIS OBISPO – Comprising the Cal Poly men’s soccer team’s 8 p.m. contest against UCLA at Alex G. Spanos Stadium and an alumni match, the Mustang program is scheduled to host its first Alumni Reunion Weekend Sept. 17-18.

The event begins on Friday, Sept. 17 as all alumni are invited to attend Cal Poly’s showdown against four-time NCAA titlist UCLA. All alumni will be honored at field level during halftime of the match, which serves as both Cal Poly’s home opener and the first encounter between the Mustangs and Bruins since the opening round of the 2008 NCAA Tournament. Cal Poly prevailed in Westwood against the Bruins, 1-0, to claim the program’s first postseason victory at the Division I level.

The alumni match is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, as Mustangs who graduated in even years will square off against their odd-year counterparts. Following the match, all alumni are invited to attend a social event at a local winery.

To RSVP for the event or for further details, please contact men’s soccer director of operations Glen Fens at gxfens@gmail.com. Inquirers can also be directed toward the men’s soccer office at (805) 756-2905.

Cal Poly, which reached the semifinals of the 2009 Big West Tournament, matched program records a year ago with six conference victories and a second-successive second place finish in the Big West table.
