SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Three Pac 10 teams and a total of four teams from who advanced to the NCAA Tournament highlight the Cal Poly women’s soccer 2009 schedule release by head coach Alex Crozier.

The Mustangs will open the 2009 regular season with a bang, hosting final four College Cup participant Stanford on Friday, Aug. 28. The Cardinal concluded the 2008 season with a 22-2-1 record, falling in the semifinals to Notre Dame.

The other NCAA participant team Cal Poly will host, Long Beach State the Big West regular season champion,on Sunday, Oct. 18.

The Mustangs will face two NCAA teams on the road, facing California on Friday, Sept. 18 and Big West Conference Tournament Champion UC Santa Barbara to conclude the regular season on Sunday, Nov. 1.

“We are looking forward to a very competitive nonconference schedule,” said Crozier. These games will prepare us well for our demanding conference matches.”

Crozier’s squad that returns six starters and 22 letterwinners, will also face Utah (Aug. 30) on the road as well as the likes of Florida International, Florida Atlantic and Air Force.

The team will wrap-up its nonconference schedule hosting Pac 10 Arizona on Sunday, Sept. 27.

The Mustangs will open Big West Conference play on Friday, Oct. 2 when the team travels to Cal State Northridge and will remain on the road with a game at UC Irvine (Oct. 4). Four conference home games will follow that will include UC Riverside (Oct. 9), Cal State Fullerton (Oct. 11), UC Davis (Oct. 15) and Long Beach State (Oct. 18).

The conference regular season will conclude on the road with game against Pacific (Oct. 23) and UC Santa Barbara (Nov. 1).

The Big West Conference Tournament is slated to begin with the semi-finals on Nov. 5, followed by the finals on Nov. 8.

Last season the Mustangs concluded the year with a 10-9-1 and a 5-3 record in conference play. The Mustangs lost in the BWC tournament in a shootout to UC Santa Barbara.
