SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Cal Poly senior goalie Coral Hoover has been named TopDrawerSoccer.com’s female player of the week while repeating as Big West Conference Player of the Week for her two shutout victories over Pac-10 schools this past weekend.

Hoover, 5-6, a graduate of Harbor High School in Santa Cruz, shut out the No. 7 Cal Bears in overtime with a 1-0 victory last Friday, handing them their second loss of the season. She recorded nine saves in the game, facing 25 shots. The Bears entered the game averaging 2.8 goals per game.

Hoover backed it up on Sunday with her fourth-straight shutout, a 3-0 blanking of Arizona in Alex G. Spanos Stadium. In that game, she made three saves.

Hoover improved her overall record to 6-1 this season, dropped her GAA to .57 and improved her save percentage to .930.

Cal Poly improved its overall record to 6-4, with Hoover in goal in all six wins.

Hoover enters this week’s games as the No. 3 goalie in the nation with a .930 save percentage.

Hoover is the first Cal Poly goalie to record four straight shutouts since the 2003 season when Greta Shirdon tallied six in a row. Entering the week she was No. 8 in the nation in save percentage.

Cal Poly opens Big West Conference play this week with matches Friday at Cal State Northridge and Sunday at UC Irvine.
