Comprising both the program’s third-annual golf classic fundraiser and banquet dinner and the adult 7v7 tournament, the Cal Poly men’s soccer team’s 2010 Alumni, Family and Friends Weekend is scheduled for May 7-9.

GOLF CLASSIC FUNDRAISER

With all proceeds benefitting the Mustang men’s soccer program, the weekend begins with the golf classic on Friday, May 7 at the Avila Beach Golf Resort in Avila Beach, Calif. The shotgun start format opens at 11 a.m. on the par-71 course (above). The $225 individual package includes green fees, cart usage, range balls and a complimentary gift bag (a separate golf-only package is also available for $175 and does not include the banquet dinner).

Additional sponsorship packages for the event are also available. For $250, patrons will receive a tee sponsorship sign and program recognition. For $1,000, sponsors will receive recognition on all registration, reception and tournament programs while at $2,500 supporters will have their signage prominently displayed on all collateral materials and signage at the event.

Following play, all golfers are invited to the program’s season banquet at the Cliffs Resort in nearby Shell Beach. For non-golfers and program supporters, the plate fee for the fundraiser dinner is $75. A silent auction will accompany the banquet.

7v7 TOURNAMENT

The weekend continues at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 8 and commences Sunday afternoon with the adult 7v7 tournament, set to be contested at Cal Poly’s Sports Complex. The entry fee for the competition is $300 and sides may register for one of six divisions: men’s open, women’s open, co-ed open, men’s over-35, women’s over-35 and co-ed over-35. There is a roster maximum of 12 players per side.

Each team is guaranteed a minimum of four 30-minute games and the tournament winners receive automatic entry into the 2011 7v7 event.

Following Saturday’s tournament action, all players are invited to join the social in downtown San Luis Obispo. More details regarding the social will be available during registration.

The deadline to register for the 7v7 tournament is Friday, April 30.
