Cal Poly Beach Volleyball Earns Highest Ranking in Program History

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — After a win over No. 12 Arizona over the weekend in Malibu, the Cal Poly beach volleyball team jumped up one spot in week eight of the AVCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball Poll to No. 4, the highest ranking in program history.

The Mustangs (23-5) had been ranked No. 5 the previous two weeks. Saturday, Cal Poly took down the Wildcats (who are now ranked No. 14) 4-1. They later fell to No. 2 Pepperdine 5-0.

They have won 20 of their last 23 matches and hold the best record in program history.

USC (30-3), Pepperdine (21-3) and Hawai'i (32-3) remained the three teams atop the AVCA rankings.

The Mustangs have three regular season matches left this season, all at home. They will host Feather River College (which will count as an exhibition), Vanguard and San Jose State Friday in Pismo Beach at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., and 4 p.m. After that, they will head to Honolulu for the Big West Conference Tournament (April 27-29).
