Cal Poly Football Banquet Set for Sunday, Jan. 22, at Madonna Inn

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly football team will celebrate its 2016 season, including its fourth Football Championship Subdivision playoff berth in 12 years, with a banquet on Sunday, Jan. 22.

The event at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo will begin at 11 a.m.

Cal Poly finished the year with a 7-5 record, its 12th winning season in the last 16 years, and shared fourth place with Southern Utah in the 13-team Big Sky standings at 5-3. The Mustangs hosted an FCS playoff game for the second time, falling to San Diego 35-21.

Junior fullback Joe Protheroe and senior offensive lineman Matt Fisher both have earned a pair of All-American honors and Protheroe, Fisher, junior center Joey Kuperman and senior linebacker Chris Santini all earned first-team All-Big Sky accolades.
