Big Sky Summer Football Kickoff Begins Sunday in Park City, Utah

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Coaches, players, administrators and media will gather in Park City, Utah, for the Big Sky Conference's annual Summer Football Kickoff starting Sunday.

Meetings are scheduled for Sunday, with a player from each of the 13 schools slated for interviews with the media and ROOT Sports on Monday followed by a golf tournament at Soldier Hollow.

Head coaches will meet with the media and ROOT Sports on Tuesday morning.

Cal Poly will be represented by senior fullback Joe Protheroe, a two-time first-team All-Big Sky Conference honoree and 2016 All-American, along with ninth-year head coach Tim Walsh.

The league will announce the preseason all-conference team on Monday, followed by the coaches and media preseason polls on Tuesday.

This year, the Big Sky has added player development programming to the schedule of events in Park City, bringing back former Defensive Player of the Year and current Oakland Raider James Cowser.

Cowser will speak to attendees on Monday about how his time as a Big Sky student-athlete prepared him for a successful career both on and off the field. The former Southern Utah standout will also hold a players-only session with Protheroe and the other student-athletes in attendance to share advice on how to prepare for a successful career as a student and possible professional prospect.

Fans can point their web browsers to WatchBigSky.com to see a live-streamed interview with Protheroe starting at 9:48 a.m. Pacific on Monday. Coach Walsh will take the air at 9:39 a.m. Pacific on Tuesday to preview the season. Interviews with all of the league's head coaches and selected players run from 8 to 10 a.m. both days.

Big Sky Commissioner Andrea Williams will start the proceedings with a streamed interview at 8 a.m. on Monday.
