Dome Takes No. 2 Player to Three Sets

TULSA, OK -- Cal Poly junior, Andre, Dome,  took the 2nd –ranked player in the ITA polls to three sets before falling in the first round of the ITA Championship. 

On Wednesday night Dome drew Blaz Rola from Ohio State who had a preseason ranking of No. 2 in the nation in the ITA poll. Dome entered the tournament with a preseason ranking of 62.

Set scores went 7-6, 5-7 and 6-1. 

On serve at 4-5 in the first set, Rola took a break from Dome then held serve (6-5) to put the match back on serve. Dome held serve to tie the set up at 6-6 and send it to a tie breaker which went Rola's way for a 7-6 set win.

In the second set, Rola broke Dome's serve and took a 3-0 lead. Dome down 5-2 in the second, broke Rola twice, winning five-straight games to win the set, 7-5, and even the match. 

In the third set, Rola broke Dome to go up 3-0 and had two more breaks for a 6-1 final in the third set.

Dome will now advance to a back draw and learn his opponent latter on Thursday.
