DAY TWO RESUTLS
FRESNO, Calif. – The Cal Poly men's tennis team picked up seven wins in the second day of play at the Fresno State Bulldog Classic on Saturday. Tournament play will conclude on Sunday.
Senior Marco Comuzzo advanced to the semifinal round as did Cory Pang and Gannon Daynes with wins in the quarters before dropping matches.
Comuzzo defeated Ethan Lopez of Fresno State, 6-0, 6-3, but lost to his teammate, Sam MacNeil, 6-4, 6-4. Pang defeated Luis Ochoa from Fresno City College in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2, but lost in the next round to Lopez, 6-4, 6-3.
Daynes shut down Alec Bessinger from FCC, 6-0, 6-2, but lost in three sets to Pacific's Eric Cedarwall, 6-4, 2-6 and 6-3.
In Round Robin play, Cal Poly picked up four wins with each player wining two. Matt Thomson defeated Patrick Huis of FCC, 6-1, 6-0, and FCC's Joey Rivera, 6-0, 6-1.
Devin Barber defeated FCC's Robinson Audiber, 6-4, 6-1, and Pacific's Lance Ngo, 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles play the duo of Donovan and Pang lost, 8-5, in the championship match to Fresno State's Lopez and Papic. In other doubles action, Cal Poly team of Baber and Klein lost, 8-6, to Pacific's Ngo and Spence.
