Mustangs Win Three Matches on Final Day of Bulldog Classic


FRESNO, Calif. – The Cal Poly men's tennis team won three of the four matches on Sunday in the final day of competition at the Fresno State Bulldog Classic.

Senior Marco Comuzzo, competing in the fourth and final round, defeated Pacific's Alex Hamilton in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-2.

In the fourth round of the Round Robin play, Devon Barber and Ben Donovan picked up wins on Sunday. Barber faced Pacific's Erik Spence and came away with a dominating, 6-3, 6-3, win. Donovan defeated Fresno State's Nikolas Papic in straight sets after a battle in the first set. Donovan won the first set, 7-6, and won the second set in convincing fashion, 6-1.

Senior Matt Thomson was the lone Mustang to fall on Sunday when he dropped a straight set match to Pacific's Lance Ngo, 6-2, 6-2.

The Mustangs will return to the courts at the prestigious Battle of the Bay Classic on Oct. 11 through 12. Ben Donovan and Naveen Beasley are expected to compete.
