  • Mustangs Look to Climb Big West Standings at UC Davis April 29-30

    The Cal Poly softball program looks to close the gap on Big West Conference leader Cal State Fullerton when the Mustangs visit last-place UC Davis for a three-game, April 29-30 series at LaRue Field. The series opens with a 12 noon doubleheader on Saturday, April 29 and closes with a 12 noon matchup on Sunday, April 30.
  • Hyland Selected No. 4 in National Pro Fastpitch Draft by Chicago Bandits

    Cal Poly softball righthander Sierra Hyland became the first Mustang to be selected in the National Pro Fastpitch Draft in eight years on Monday afternoon as the senior was taken with the fourth overall selection by the defending champion Chicago Bandits.
  • Cal Poly Softball Rallies for Late Lead, but Falls at CSUN, 3-2
    April 23, 2017
    Junior center fielder Amanda Sandoval provided the Cal Poly softball program a brief 2-1 lead with a two-out, two-run double in the top of the sixth inning, but CSUN notched single runs in the bottom halves of the sixth and seventh to overtake the Mustangs in Sunday's series finale at Matador Diamond, 3-2.
  • Chalmers Blanks CSUN, Hyland Makes Big West History as Cal Poly Splits

    Senior righthander Sierra Hyland struck out eight CSUN hitters in a complete-game, two-hitter and become the first pitcher in the 33-year history of Big West Conference softball to record 900-plus career strikeouts, but the Cal Poly softball program opened a Saturday doubleheader and three-game series at CSUN by dropping a 4-3 decision. The Mustangs, however, received a complete-game, five-hitter with four strikeouts from junior righthander Lindsey Chalmers in game No. 2 as the Mustangs prevailed, 2-0.

    Senior righthander Sierra Hyland tossed a complete game, but the Cal Poly softball program couldn't overcome a two-run homer from Long Beach State shortstop Nicole Fry in the top of the first inning as the Mustangs dropped their series finale versus the 49ers at Bob Janssen Field, 2-0.

    Senior righthander Sierra Hyland tossed all 12 innings of the Cal Poly softball program's series opener versus Long Beach State Friday afternoon, but the 49ers pushed across two runs in the top half of the 12th to edge the Mustangs at Bob Janssen Field, 2-0. Despite a 10-strikeout performance from junior righthander Lindsey Chalmers in game No. 2, Cal Poly fell once more in nine innings, 1-0.
  • First Place on the Line as Cal Poly Hosts Long Beach State April 14-15

    Five more Big West Conference series remain for the Cal Poly softball program as the Mustangs host fellow first-place shareholder Long Beach State for a three-game, April 14-15 set. The series gets underway with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday, April 14 before closing with a 1 p.m. matchup on Saturday, April 15.
  • Hyland One of 25 Finalists for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year

    Ranked seventh among NCAA Division I pitchers with 200 strikeouts and eighth with a 0.83 ERA, righthander Sierra Hyland became just the second Mustang in program history to be shortlisted for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award as the senior was named as one of 25 finalists on Wednesday afternoon.

    The Cal Poly softball program produced just one hit against Cal State Fullerton righthander Cerissa Rivera to open a Saturday doubleheader, but senior left fielder Courtney Tyler's solo home run in the top of the eighth inning proved the difference as senior righthander Sierra Hyland tied the Mustang career record with her 33rd shutout in a 1-0 triumph. Cal Poly, however, settled for a split as a four-run fifth inning from Cal State Fullerton during game No. 2 – coupled with four Mustang errors during the matchup – gave the Titans a 4-2 win.

Cal Poly completed the doubleheader sweep in game No. 2 with junior righthander Lindsey Chalmers striking out five and Hyland recording her program record sixth career save as the Mustangs prevailed, 3-1.

    Senior righthander Sierra Hyland (above) set a new Big West Conference career strikeout record and finished with 13 total strikeouts against CSU Bakersfield as the 25th-ranked Cal Poly softball program opened a Saturday doubleheader at Bob Janssen Field with a 3-0 victory against the Roadrunners. Cal Poly, however, saw a nine-game winning streak snapped in game No. 2 as CSU Bakersfield scored seven times in the top of the first inning en route to an 11-8 decision.
