Cal Poly Third After Two Rounds of Play in Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate

PALM DESERT, Calif. — Four Cal Poly golfers are in the top 20 entering Sunday's final round of the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate.

Sophie Bergland (pictured at right) is tied for fourth place, Mallory Muehlbauer is tied for sixth and Desiree Gillaspy and Jamie Binns are tied for 13th place as Coach Sofie Aagaard's Mustangs sit in third place after Saturday's two rounds of play at the Classic Club.

Santa Clara leads with a 36-hole 590 total, followed by Hawai'i at 593 and Cal Poly at 594.

Bergland carded a pair of 73s for a 146 total while Muehlbauer checked in with back-to-back 74s for a 148 aggregate. Both Gillaspy and Binns posted a 74 in the morning round and 76 in the afternoon for 150 totals.

Individual leader is Annie Freman of Santa Clara with a 70 and 68 for a 138 total, four shots ahead of Southern Utah's Kamonwan (Poy) Prasurtwong (70-72–142). Isabella Leung of Hawai'i is third with 71-73–144.

There are 12 teams and 68 golfers in the field.
