November 15, 2012 | Cross Country Hollander Heads to NCAA’s, Cardona Receives All-Region Honors Cal Poly freshman Laura Hollander and senior David Cardona received USTFCCCA Division I Cross Country All-Region honors for their performances at the NCAA West Regional last week while Hollander prepares for the NCAA Championship.
November 9, 2012 | Cross Country Hollander Second at NCAA West Regional, Men Finish Eighth Cal Poly freshman Laura Hollander was edged out of first place at the NCAA West Regional Championship at the Jefferson Park Golf Course in Seattle to finish second with a time of 19:22. The women’s team placed 11th. The Cal Poly men’s team placed eighth, paced by senior David Cardona in 17th.
November 6, 2012 | Cross Country Cal Poly Heads to NCAA West Regional Cross Country Meet The Cal Poly men’s and women’s cross country teams are off to the NCAA West Regional on Friday in Seattle, Washington. The men’s 10k course and the women’s 6k will be held at the Jefferson Golf Course in Seattle. The women’s race will start at 12 pm followed by the men’s race at 1:15 pm.
October 31, 2012 | Cross Country Cross Country Claims Five of Six Big West Conference Awards Cal Poly’s domination at the 2012 Big West Conference Cross Country Championship last week, taking both the men’s and women’s title, carried through to the cross country annual awards with the Mustangs claiming five of the six awards handed out by the Big West Conference
October 30, 2012 | Cross Country Laura Hollander Named USA Track & Field Athlete of the Week Cal Poly’s Laura Hollander (Huntington Beach, Calif.) has been named USA Track & Field’s Athlete of the Week after winning the Big West Conference Cross Country Championships in a course record time of 19:12.6.Photo of Laura Hollander
October 27, 2012 | Cross Country Cal Poly Sweeps Big West Cross Country Championships Freshman Laura Hollander continued her storied season in winning the Big West Conference Cross Country Championship wire to wire in record time while the men’s team finished first, second and third led by junior Chris Frias to the team’s second consecutive and 12th championship overall.
October 23, 2012 | Cross Country Cal Poly Prepares for Big West Cross Country Championships For the fifth consecutive year, the Big West Cross Country Championship takes place at the UC Riverside Ag/Ops Course on the campus of UC Riverside. This year’s event is slated for Saturday, Oct. 27 with the women’s 6,000 meters taking place at 8:45 a.m. and the men’s 8K at 9:30 a.m.
October 16, 2012 | Cross Country Hollander, Cardona Sweep Cross Country Weekly Honors for Cal Poly Senior David Cardona and freshman Laura Hollander registered impressive performances for Cal Poly at the adidas Wisconsin Invitational, and claimed Big West Men's and Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week accolades for their efforts.
October 13, 2012 | Cross Country Mustangs Compete at Cal Poly Cross Country Invitational Competing as a split squad, a host of Mustangs competed in the Cal Poly Cross Country Invitational on Saturday at the Fairbanks Cross Country Course. The women’s race was won by Michelle Read, competing unattached, covering the five kilometer course in a time of 18:57 while Adam Lucero won the men’s 8k race in a time of 27:11.
October 12, 2012 | Cross Country Laura Hollander Wins Loaded Wisconsin Adidas Invitational True Freshman Laura Hollander won the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational on Friday, covering the 6 kilometer course in a record setting 19:33. The freshman led the Mustangs to a 32nd place finish while the men’s team placed 30th led by senior David Cardona’s 68th place finish.
October 9, 2012 | Cross Country Cal Poly Travels to Fourth-Annual Wisconsin Adidas Invitational Both the Cal Poly men’s and women’s teams will be heading to Wisconsin for the Fourth-Annual Wisconsin Adidas Invitational on Friday. The race will be held on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course with the men covering an 8k race and the women, 6k.The women’s race will begin at 9 am Pacific Time while the men’s will start at 9:40.
September 29, 2012 | Cross Country Mustangs Compete at Stanford Invitational Cal Poly cross country teams competed at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday running split squads. The men’s team, led by David Cardona, finished 18th while the women’s team, led by Alex Ciaraglia, finished 15th. Each Cal Poly team competed with just five runners.
September 21, 2012 | Cross Country Laura Hollander Wins Pac 12 Preview; Men’s Team Finishes Fourth True freshman Laura Hollander backed up her record setting pace at the Lagoon Open in Santa Barbara when she finished first at the Pac 12 Preview in a time of 17:02 in Santa Clarita on Friday. The men’s team was fourth led by Chris Frias in eighth place.
September 5, 2012 | Cross Country Cal Poly Sweeps Cross Country Weekly Awards Cal Poly student-athletes made it a clean sweep for the Mustangs, winning both the men’s and women’s Big West Cross Country Athlete of the Week with junior Chris Frias on the men’s side and freshman Laura Hollander, the women's.
September 1, 2012 | Cross Country Cal Poly Sweeps UC Santa Barbara Lagoon Open The Cal Poly men’s and women’s cross country teams swept the UC Santa Barbara Lagoon Open on Saturday with the men’s team winning in dominate fashion, 23-45, and the women’s team winning a close battle, 29-33. The meet was the season opener for both teams.
August 6, 2012 | Cross Country Men and Women Hope to Contend for Big West Championships Head Coach Mark Conover enters his 16th season at the helm of the Cal Poly cross country program that has produced 11 men’s Big West Championships and two women’s.
February 15, 2012 | Cross Country Women's Cross Country Team Earns USTFCCCA Academic Status The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced that the Cal Poly women’s cross country team was one of the NCAA Division I cross country teams to earn all-academic status.
February 9, 2012 | Cross Country Breadmore Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Status Cal Poly freshman Meghan Breadmore earned USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition as one of the top academic and athletic student-athletes in 2011.
November 21, 2011 | Cross Country Men’s Cross Country Finish 28th at NCAA Championships The Cal Poly men’s cross country team finished 28th at the NCAA Championship on Monday in Terre Haute, IN. The Cal Poly women finished 105th and 146th in the women’s race. The 2011 Championships were hosted by Indiana State University.
November 16, 2011 | Cross Country Conover Named USTFCCA West Region Coach of the Year The USTFCCCA announced today that Cal Poly head coach Mark Conover was named the men’s West Region Cross Country Coach of the Year.
November 13, 2011 | Cross Country Men’s Cross Country Team Selected for NCAA’s, Two Women Selected The Cal Poly men’s cross country team earned an at-large selection to the NCAA Championship while two members of the women’s team were selected to compete as individuals on Nov 21 in Terre Haute, IN
November 12, 2011 | Cross Country Men’s Cross Country Finishes 3rd at NCAA West Regional The Cal Poly men’s cross country team entered Satuday’s NCAA West Regional as the fifth seeded team and came home third, advancing its chances for an at-large bid to the championships Nov. 21. The women’s team entered the race seeded 14th and finished in ninth.
November 2, 2011 | Cross Country Cross Country Nabs Three Big West Conference Awards Cal Poly received three of the Big West Conference six cross country awards it was announced today by the conference office. Head coach Mark Conover was named the Big West Men’s Coach of the Year while Mitch Moriarty and Meghan Breadmore garnered freshman of the year honors.
October 29, 2011 | Cross Country Men's Cross Country Wins 11th BWC Championship Cal Poly men’s cross country team ran away with the 2011 Big West Men's Cross Country Championship placing seven runners in the top 14 spots for 36 points en route to its 11th team title in the past 14 seasons.
October 27, 2011 | Cross Country Cross Country Heads to Big West Championships The Cal Poly cross country teams will be heading UC Riverside for the Big West Championships on Saturday. The men’s team, winners of 10 Big West crowns, will be led by senior Daniel Gonia who posted his fastest time of the season (23:48) at the Santa Clara Invitational on Oct. 15. Gonia has posted the third fastest time in conference this season on an 8k course.
October 15, 2011 | Cross Country Men 2nd, Women 5th at Santa Clara Invite The Cal Poly cross country teams competed at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational with the men’s team finished second while the women’s team finished fifth.
October 4, 2011 | Cross Country Mustangs Sweep Weekly Honors The men’s and women’s Cal Poly cross country teams put up excellent showings at their respective events, with the help of junior transfer David Cardona senior Leanne Fogg. For their efforts, Cardona was named Big West Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week and Fogg was tabbed Big West Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
September 24, 2011 | Cross Country Mustangs Finish a Solid 7th at Roy Griak Invitational The Cal Poly men’s cross country team finished a solid seventh at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational held at the Les Bolstad Golf Course on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The Mustangs seventh place finish was paced by junior transfer David Cardona with his ninth place finish in a time of 24:19. Cardona is a transfer from El Camino College and is in his first season of competition at Cal Poly.
September 24, 2011 | Cross Country Women Finish Third at Stanford Invitational The Cal Poly women’s cross country team led by Leanne Fogg finished third on Saturday at the Stanford Invitational with 139 points. Cal Poly trailed host Stanford in first place with 24 points and UC Davis in second with 138 points.
September 10, 2011 | Cross Country Cal Poly Women Dominate at UC Irvine Invitational The Cal Poly women’s cross country team dominated the UC Irvine Invitational on Saturday at the Anteater Recreation Center Course. The Mustangs placed all five scoring runners in the top 15 and four in the top eight in winning with 38 total points.
September 3, 2011 | Cross Country Mustangs Sweep UCSB at Lagoon Open In the 2011 season opener for both the men’s and women’s cross country teams, Cal Poly swept both dual meets with the men winning 22-35 and the women winning 25-30 over UC Santa Barbara at the Lagoon Open on Saturday.
