Van Winden and Miric Named AVCA Beach All-Americans

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — After leading the Cal Poly beach volleyball team to its best season in program history, the Mustangs' No. 1 tandem of sophomore Torrey Van Winden and freshman Tiadora Miric have been named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Beach All-Americans, the AVCA announced Thursday.

Van Winden and Miric went 19-8 at the No. 1 spot, including victories over six ranked opponents.

The duo also won the first-ever Big West Pairs Championship tournament held in Honolulu. They won four matches in a row over some of the best pairs in the conference on their way to winning the title.

Last week, both were selected to the First Team All-Big West. They helped lead Cal Poly to its best season in its history with a 27-7 record and its highest ranking at No. 4 in the nation and wins over several teams ranked in the top 20.
