Cal Poly Beach Volleyball Holds Steady at No. 7 in AVCA Poll

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Following its second consecutive week without playing a match that counts toward the overall record, the Cal Poly beach volleyball program held the No. 7 ranking in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 20 poll for the second week in a row.

Two other Big West schools also continue to stay in the top 10. Hawai'i came in at No. 6 this week while Long Beach State dropped to No. 9.

The Mustangs, who are 3-3 so far this season, hosted a pairs tournament with CSUN and CSU Bakersfield last weekend. That did not count toward any team or individual records. It was won by the pair of sophomore Tiadora Miric and senior graduate transfer Crissy Jones.

Cal Poly returns to dual play action this week with five matches, three of which will be against teams in the AVCA Top 15.

The Mustangs first will head to Malibu Wednesday for the Waves Invite hosted by Pepperdine. There, they will face No. 13 Loyola Marymount University at noon and the No. 5 Waves right after. Last year, Cal Poly went 1-0 against the Lions and 1-1 against Pepperdine.

Following Wednesday, the Mustangs travel to Santa Monica for three matches Saturday. They will take on Missouri Valley State, Concordia, and LMU again at 11 a.m., noon and 3 p.m.
