SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly beach volleyball team made more history Sunday as it was selected to its first NCAA Tournament in program history. The Mustangs are the No. 6 seed and will face the No. 3 seed Florida State in the first round of tournament.

The Mustangs (25-10) will face the Seminoles (28-5) at 10 a.m. PT Friday, May 3, in Gulf Shores, Ala. The match will be broadcast live on ESPNU. The tournament runs May 3-5 with all matches on Friday airing on ESPNU. All of Saturday's matches will be on ESPN2 while on Sunday one match will air on ESPN2 with the championship match airing on ESPN.

Joining the Mustangs and Seminoles in the NCAA Tournament field are:
-No. 1 seed USC (28-4)
-No. 2 seed UCLA (31-3)
-No. 4 seed Pepperdine (20-9)
-No. 5 seed LSU (29-6)
-No. 7 seed Hawai'i (26-9)
-No. 8 seed Stetson (29-8)

Cal Poly rides into the NCAA Tournament on a four-match winning streak. The Mustangs went 4-0 in this past weekend's Big West Tournament to secure their first-ever conference title. That run included beating Hawai'i, which is in the NCAA Tournament as the No. 7 seed, twice.

The Mustangs' 25 wins this season included 12 against teams ranked inside the AVCA Top 20. This was the second season in a row Cal Poly reached the 20+ victory mark.

The Mustangs faced Florida State at the beginning of this season in Tallahassee, Fla., falling 4-1. Cal Poly is 0-2 against Florida State all-time.

The 2019 NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship will be a double-elimination bracket tournament with the two remaining schools playing a winner-take-all match on Sunday at 11 a.m. PT.

The 2019 Beach Volleyball Championship provides for a field of eight teams to compete in the double elimination tournament. The NCAA Women's Beach Volleyball Committee conducts team selections, selecting the top three teams from the East Region and the top three teams from the West Region. The remaining two teams are selected at-large from across the country by the committee.

If the Mustangs beat the Seminoles, they will face the winner of the UCLA-Hawai'i matchup on Friday at 2 p.m. PT on ESPNU. If they lose, they will face the loser of that match on Friday at noon PT on ESPNU.

For fans who want any of the matches this weekend, Charlie's Place in San Luis Obispo will be the official watch party location starting with the match on Friday against FSU at 10 a.m. PT.
