Jones, Miric Named AVCA Beach All-Americans

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Two days after becoming the first Cal Poly beach volleyball tandem to earn Big West Pairs Team of the Year, senior Crissy Jones and sophomore Tia Miric were both named AVCA Beach All-Americans, the AVCA announced Wednesday.

This is the second AVCA Beach All-American honor for Miric after being honored in 2018. This is the first such honor for Jones on the beach. As an indoor player at Washington in 2016, she was named Second-Team AVCA All-American.

As the Mustangs' No. 1 duo for the majority of the season, Jones and Miric finished a team-best 22-8. They played three of the first four matches of the season at the No. 2 spot before playing the rest from the top spot. That included a stretch in which they won 16 of 17 matches and a 4-0 run in the Big West Tournament to help lead the Mustangs to the program's first Big West title and NCAA Tournament appearance.

They were also the only Cal Poly pair to earn AVCA Pair of the Week honors, which they took home following the Big West Tournament. They were also ranked by collegebeachvb.com as the fifth-best pair in the country in this season.

A total of eight pairs from across the country were named to the AVCA All-American Team while six other individual players received honorable mention nods.
