Jackson also returned 10 punts an average of 12.4 yards per return with a long of 30 yards and averaged 25.2 yards per kickoff return, including a 92-yard return for a touchdown. He earned second-team all-conference honors as a receiver, was named to the San Diego Union-Tribune’s All-Academic Team for the second straight year and played in the Alex Spanos All-Star Game. He was named first-team all-conference as a receiver and led the Lancers to an 11-3 record, the Coastal Conference and CIF-San Diego Section Division V championships and a runner-up finish in the small schools division of the state finals, losing to Modesto Christian 44-40 at the Home Depot Center in Carson. UCLA and San Diego also recruited Jackson, who chose Cal Poly because “it was the right place for me, both education- and football-wise.” He also was a four-year track letterman, competing in the 100, 200 and short relay.
