Cal Poly Moves Brown Game to Sept. 14; Sets Remaining Home Kickoffs

Cal Poly Moves Brown Game to Sept. 14; Sets Remaining Home Kickoffs
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Cal Poly's first-ever football game with Ivy League member Brown University will be played a day earlier than originally planned.

For multiple reasons, the Mustangs and Bears have moved their non-conference contest from Saturday, Sept. 15, to Friday, Sept. 14. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m.

"An early afternoon kick time with Brown would have been necessary on Saturday due to the challenging cross country travel requirements," said Cal Poly director of athletics Don Oberhelman. "With many other events scheduled on campus for Saturday afternoon, it was deemed to be in the mutual interest of both programs to play Friday evening."

Last time Cal Poly played a home game on a Friday was on Nov. 17, 1961, against UC Santa Barbara, a 32-14 Mustang victory.

Times for Cal Poly's other five home kickoffs also were announced Wednesday.

The Mustangs' home opener Sept. 8 against Weber State, a non-conference game between Big Sky Conference members, will kick off at 6:05 p.m.

After the Brown contest, the remaining four home games, all Big Sky contests, will kick off at 4:05 p.m.

Those dates are Sept. 29 against Montana, Oct. 20 versus UC Davis, Nov. 10 against Idaho State and Nov. 17 versus Southern Utah.

The contest against Montana will be televised on Eleven Sports.

Homecoming is set for the Idaho State game while Mustang Family Weekend is scheduled for the Battle for the Golden Horseshoe contest against UC Davis.
