Football Players Volunteer for Special Olympics Regional Games

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The 50th San Luis Obispo County Special Olympics Regional Spring Games were held Friday, May 3, at Cuesta College.

Up to 40 Cal Poly football players served as volunteers for set up as well as participating in the opening march inside the Cuesta College gym.

Track and field, bocce ball and swimming competitions for over 560 Special Olympics athletes from 50 schools and programs were held at Cuesta College, with the athletes competing for bronze, silver and gold medals and ribbons.

Many of the athletes will go on to compete in the Special Olympics Southern California Summer Games on June 8-9 at Long Beach State.
