SIMI VALLEY, Calif. — Dominick Hoover matched par with a final-round 72 as the Cal Poly men's golf team finished tied for 10th place with UC Irvine in the Bill Cullum Invitational hosted by CSUN on Tuesday at Wood Ranch Golf Club.
Coach Scott Cartwright's Mustangs, who posted a 301 Monday and completed the darkness-suspended second round Tuesday with a 292, added a 293 in the final round for a 54-hole, four-person 22-over-par 886 aggregate.
The Mustangs were 11th after the first round, eighth after the second round and tied for 10th following the final round.
Boise State captured top team honors in the 17-team field with a 21-under-par 843 total on the 6,849-yard, par-72 course.Cal State Fullerton finished eight strokes behind the Broncos in second place while UC Santa Barbara claimed third place at 12 under par.
Hoover completed 54 holes with a 224 total and 56th place after matching par in the final round.
Cal Poly's top finisher was Thomas Lehman (pictured above) with rounds of 74, 72 and 73 for a three-over-par 219 total and 29th place.
Other scoring Mustangs were Will Draper with a 75 for a 220 total and 34th place, Tanner Podres with a 73 for a 225 total and 59th place, and Peter Faragia with an 81 for a 235 total and 89th place.
Competing as an individual, Bryce Loosigian rebounded from an 89 and 84 with a 75 Tuesday for a 248 total and 99th place.
Brian Humphreys led Boise State to the team title with top individual honors, carding a final-round 66 for an 11-under-par 205 total and a three-stroke victory over both Zach Smith of UC Santa Barbara and Bryan Wiyang Teoh of UCLA.
Draper finished tied for fifth in par-5 scoring at six under par. He and Podres shared 14th place in par-3 scoring at one over par. Hoover and Draper each carded one eagle in the tournament and Lehman was fourth with his 37 pars.
Cal Poly wraps up its fall schedule Oct. 28-30 at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational on the Princeville Makai Golf Course on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
