SACRAMENTO, Calif. — On a soggy Valley Hi Country Club course Tuesday, Cal Poly sophomore Tanner Podres earned a fourth-place finish in the Sacramento State Invitational.
Podres, who carded rounds of 67 and 66 on Monday, finished with a 76 for a seven-under-par 209 total on the 7,010-yard, par-72 layout, sharing fourth place with Filip Lundell of Grand Canyon.
Jack Dyer of Cal State Fullerton posted a final-round 71 for a 206 total and a one-stroke victory over Harrison Kingsley of Cal Baptist. Hunter Epson of Long Beach State was third, another stroke back.
Dyer led the Titans to the team championship by seven strokes over Long Beach State. Grand Canyon finished third while Cal Poly claimed 11th place in the 15-team field, posting a four-person 301 Tuesday for a 16-over-par 880 aggregate.
Mustang senior Thomas Lehman finished in a tie for 26th place with rounds of 76, 70 and 72 for a two-over-par 218 total while Will Draper claimed 64th place with a 226 total after a final-round 75.
Also scoring for Cal Poly were Sage Casaga with an 81 for a 230 total and 75th place, and his younger brother, Cade Casaga, with a 78 for a 234 aggregate and 81st place.
Competing as an individual, Bryce Loosigian placed 84th with an 80 for a 242 total.
Podres was fourth in par-4 scoring at three under par and sixth in par-5 scoring at five under par. He posted 12 birdies over 54 holes of play, eighth in the field of 86 golfers.
Cal Poly returns to action next Monday and Tuesday at the Olympic Club Intercollegiate, to be held on the Olympic Club's Lake Course in San Francisco.
