Cal Poly Men’s Tennis Signs Four-Star Recruit Ben Keyser to NLI

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly men's tennis team announced Friday that four-star recruit Ben Keyser has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his tennis and academic career at Cal Poly starting in the fall of 2019.

Keyser, a native of Vienna, VA, helped lead Mclean High School to a state championship in 2018. He is the number one ranked senior in the state of Virginia and won three matches at last year's Junior National Championships.

"Ben's size, his weapons and physicality are what caught my eye at first this summer at Nationals," head coach Nick Carless had to say about Keyser. "As I watched him more I really became drawn to his competitiveness, fight and on court presence. He is a tough player with a big upside. We are looking forward to helping him develop during his time here at Poly and feel he will make an immediate impact on our team."

Keyser said he chose Cal Poly "because I felt the great coaching staff would help develop my game better than any other school. Furthermore, I felt at home on campus and could see myself working hard athletically and academically in San Luis Obispo."

Following the 2019 season, Cal Poly will lose two seniors to graduation.
