FRESNO, Calif. — The Cal Poly men's tennis team had a strong showing to begin the fall season at the Bulldog Classic over the weekend in Fresno. The weekend was highlighted by junior Andrew Whitehouse (pictured) winning the Flight C singles title.
Whitehouse went 3-0 for the weekend in singles on his way to winning the Flight C title. In the championship match, he defeated St. Mary's' Akbar Mamirov in straight sets 7-5, 6-3.
In doubles, Whitehouse teamed with junior Roman Shenkiryk, going a combined 2-1. The freshman tandem of Alexis Delisle and Fernando Fonseca also went 2-1 for the weekend, collecting wins over duos from UC Davis.
Elsewhere in singles, Shenkiryk and Fonseca both went 2-2 while Delisle finished 1-3.
Cal Poly will head to Santa Barbara this weekend to compete in the UCSB Classic. The event runs Friday through Sunday.
