ATLANTA, Georgia -- The 2011 AT&T Winter National Championships continued Friday and will wrap up on Saturday in Atlanta, Georgia. On the second day of competition, Cal Poly had five athletes competing in four events.
Senior Kylie France kicked off the competition Friday morning as she competed in the 400 individual medley. France finished the race with a time of 5:07.94. She swims in two events Saturday.
In the 100 butterfly, Cal Poly senior Gloria Benefield recorded a time of 1:03.86. She was followed by her sophomore teammate Rachel Cleak with a time of 1:04.67. Also competing in the 100 butterfly was junior Angie Haven, who came in at 1:05.94.
Haven qualified to swim in four events at the competition and competed in two on Friday. Her second event Friday was the 100 breaststroke. Haven's time for that event was 1:15.75.
Senior Amy Morales swam Friday in the 100 backstroke, achieving a time of 1:08.94. She also competed Thursday in the 50 freestyle.
None of Friday's Cal Poly swimmers advanced to the finals Friday night, but but before the Winter National Championships wrap up on Saturday, Mustangs will swim in five events.
