SANTA BARBARA, Calif.- The Mustangs came up short against the Gauchos as the swim and dive teams faced off against UC Santa Barbara in the Blue-Green Rivalry at Campus Pool.
Cal Poly was topped on both the men's side, 191-107, and the women's side, 167-133.
Mustang swimmers won several events during the meet. Freshman Ian Sinclair won the men's 1000 yard freestyle with his time of 9:26.24.
Senior Katrina Anderson won the 200 yard freestyle with her time of 1:54.01. Jill Jones touched the wall first in the 100 freestyle at 52.82. She was followed in by teammate Rachel Cleak at 53.17. Senior Rachel O'Brien got the win in the 100 yard butterfly after she finished at 55.62
Cal Poly women divers dominated the competition with senior Sami McIntyre finished first in the 1 meter dive with 226.75 points. Sophomore Grace Greenwood finished second with 224.25 points and Meaghan O'Meara (pictured at right) finished third with 204.45 points.
The Mustangs face-off against UC Santa Barbara once more in San Luis Obispo on Feb. 9. Cal Poly will be swimming at home next weekend, Nov. 9 and 10 for the Mustang Invitational.
