Cal Poly Sweeps All Events in Dual Wins over UC Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- Sonny Fierro and Allison de Peralta each won three individual events as the Cal Poly men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned easy dual meet victories over host UC Santa Cruz on Saturday.

Fierro won men's events in the 200 freestyle (1:45.87), 200 butterfly (1:56.89) and 400 individual medley (4:10.24).

De Peralta was the winner in three women's events -- 100 backstroke (59.39), 200 breaststroke (2:25.92) and 100 butterfly (59.16).

In other men's events, Johnny Dodero won both the 100 backstroke (55.26) and 200 backstroke (1:57.04) while Mackey Hopen touched the wall first in both the 50 freestyle (21.85) and 100 butterfly (53.91).

Mickey Mackle earned wins in the 200 breaststroke (2:07.67) and 500 frestyle (4:42.53) while Elliott Adams won both diving events.

On the women's side, Rachel Cleak, Andrea Voigt and Meaghan O'Meara each won two events.

Cleak posted victories in both the 100 freestyle (53.04) and 200 butterfly (2:06.89); Voigt was the winner in both the 200 freestyle (1:55.09) and 50 freestyle (24.66); and O'Meara won both diving events.

Cal Poly won each of the 16 events on both the men's and women's sides.

Coach Tom Milich's Mustangs return to action Saturday with a dual meet against UC Santa Barbara at noon in the Anderson Aquatic Center.
