Cal Poly Men’s Swimming & Diving In Fourth After First Day of MPSF Championships

WEDNESDAY'S RESULTS

LA MIRADA, Calif. — After the first day of competition at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships Wednesday, which saw just the team relay races take place, the Cal Poly men's swimming & diving team currently sits in fourth place while the women's team is in eighth place.

The MPSF Championships, which are being held at the La Mirada Aquatics Center for the swimming events, began Wednesday evening with the men's and women's 800-yard freestyle relay and 200 medley relay.

The Mustangs were highlighted by the men's quartet in the 800 free relay. The team of senior Zack Allen, junior Paul Rogers (pictured), senior Dominic Dalpiaz, and junior Nic Clark finished second in the event, just missing breaking the school record that was set at last year's MPSF Championships. They finished with a time of 6:27.97, just shy of the record time of 6:27.54. They were just behind UC Santa Barbara, who won the event with a time of 6:21.23.

In the women's 200 medley relay, junior Emily Peters, junior Amelia Feick, sophomore Sascha Keir, and senior Emily Imfeld also just missed breaking a school record that was set in 2013. The quartet finished with a time of 1:43.55, just shy of the record time of 1:43.11.

On the women's side, Hawai'i currently sits in first place while UCSB and Hawai'i are tied for first on the men's side.

The second day of the MPSF Championships continue Thursday with individual events beginning to take place. Prelims start at 9 a.m. and the finals at 4:30 p.m.
