Rogers, Feick Collect Wins at Pepperdine Winter Invitational

MALIBU, Calif. — Senior Cal Poly men's swimmer Paul Rogers and senior women's swimmer Amelia Feick each collected an individual event win as the Cal Poly men's and women's swimming teams competed at the Pepperdine Winter Invitational over the weekend in Malibu.

The meet also featured UCSB, UC San Diego, Cal Baptist, CSU Bakersfield, University of San Diego, Pepperdine, and Loyola Marymount on the women's side and UCSB, UC San Diego, Cal Baptist, and CSU Bakersfield on the men's side.

Feick won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:14.51, over three seconds faster than the second place finisher. It was also the fastest 200 breast time by a Cal Poly women's swimmer this season and the third-fastest time in school history

Rogers was victorious in the 100 free with a time of 43.84. Rogers also finished second in the 500 free with a time of 4:25.21.

Other notable finishes for the Mustangs included freshman men's swimmer Noah Otsuka, who placed second in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 25.21. Junior Alexander Nikolaev finished second in the 1650 free with a time of 15:35.63.

As a team, the Mustang men finished fourth overall while the women's team finished fifth. Cal Poly will not compete again until January 11 when it hosts Fresno State at Anderson Aquatics Center at 11 a.m.
