Cal Poly's Gilbert, Leaupepe Twins Earn All-Conference Team Honors

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly women's basketball players Hannah Gilbert, Lynn Leaupepe and Dynn Leaupepe earned All-Big West Conference Team honors on Monday.

Gilbert was selected to the First Team, while Lynn made the Second Team and Dynn was chosen for Honorable Mention recognition.

Gilbert ended the regular season seventh in school history in scoring and sixth in rebounding. The senior forward from Morro Bay enters the postseason having scored 1,131 career points (only two back of Molly Schlemer, who scored 1,133 from 2010-14 for sixth all-time) to go with 662 rebounds (10 back of the No. 5 spot, also held by Schlemer).

She has played in 118 games as a Mustang. After leading the Big West in field-goal percentage as a sophomore, she earned all-conference second-team accolades as a junior, and earlier this season was selected as College Sports Madness' Big West Player of the Week on Nov. 28 (two days after also making the all-tournament team at the Cal Poly Holiday Beach Classic).

Gilbert — who has a .532 career field-goal percentage (and is currently No. 37 in the nation this season, at .542) — ranks seventh in the Big West in scoring (at 14.0 points per game) and eighth in rebounding (6.7).

The Big West Player of the Week on Jan. 23, Lynn Leaupepe enters the postseason 25th all-time in scoring at Cal Poly, with 767 points (35 behind current Mustang associate head coach Kari Duperron's 802 from 1999-03).

A junior from Camarillo, Lynn's 485 career rebound total is also five away from tying Heather Journey (1999-03) for 12th in program history.

She's the Big West's sixth-leading scorer (at 15.0 points per game), third-leading rebounder (7.8), and is also second in steals per game (1.7). Her nine double-doubles rank No. 2 in the league.

Dynn Leaupepe, also an honorable mention as a sophomore, is now 12th in school history in scoring, with 1,027 points, six shy of Kellie Hoffman (1992-96) for 11th.

Selected as the conference player of the week on Jan. 9, she ranks No. 11 in the country in free-throw percentage, at .884 (via 107-for-121). Dynn is also the Big West's fifth-leading scorer (also 15.0 points per game) while ranking seventh in steals (1.5).

Gilbert and the twin sisters combined for an historic performance in the 78-60 win at UC Irvine on Feb. 9. Led by Dynn's 21 points and 20 apiece from Lynn and Gilbert, they became the first trio in Mustang Division I history to score 20 points each in the same game.

Monday's announcement brought the Mustangs' total of all-conference team selections to 45 since joining the Big West in 1996.

Cal Poly (11-17, 7-9) will open the conference tournament as the No. 7 seed against No. 6-seeded Hawai'i (also 11-17, 7-9) in the first round at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, broadcast on ESPN3 as well as ESPN Radio 1280 from Walter Pyramid at Long Beach State.
