Cal Poly's Leaupepe Selected as Big West Conference Player of the Week

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly senior Lynn Leaupepe was selected as the Big West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.

The honor was announced after she established her single-game rebounding career-high in back-to-back wins, securing 14 rebounds in the 73-72 win over UCSB on Feb. 21 before matching it with another 14 in the 63-56 win over Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 24.

Leaupepe also scored 16 and then 18 points in the duo of wins (shooting 13-for-25) — which bumped the Mustangs (16-11, 10-5) up to second place in the Big West standings entering the regular-season finale at Hawai'i on Saturday night.

Leaupepe ranks sixth in the conference with a season average of 7.0 rebounds per game, in addition to 11.0 points and 1.8 steals. The week also saw Leaupepe move to No. 7 in school history in career rebounding (655), as well as No. 13 in all-time scoring (1,026).

Leaupepe also was selected Big West Player of the Week on Jan. 23, 2017, as well as College Sports Madness' conference player of the week earlier this season on Nov. 20.

Cal Poly visits UH at 9 p.m. PST March 3 in Honolulu, televised on Spectrum Sports HI and broadcast by ESPN 1420 (7 p.m. local time on O'ahu) from the Stan Sheriff Center.
