Cal Poly Alumna Schlemer Earns EuroBasket Honors for 2017-18

EDIRNE, Turkey — Cal Poly women's basketball alum Molly Schlemer closed her fourth professional season again earning EuroBasket accolades, as the former Mustang Big West Conference Player of the Year was selected for All-TKBL honorable mention after finishing in the top five in the league in both scoring and rebounding.

During this past season, she was also chosen as EuroBasket.com's Player of the Week on both Nov. 11 and April 17.

Schlemer led Edirne Belediyesi averaging 22.3 points (ranking No. 1 in the Turkish league) along with 11.7 rebounds per game (fourth throughout the TKBL).

As a Mustang from 2010-14, Schlemer graduated sixth in school history in career scoring (with 1,133 points) and fifth in all-time rebounding (672). In 2013, she won the Big West Tournament MVP award while leading the Mustangs to the NCAA Tournament.

Previously since turning pro, Schlemer won EuroBasket Player of the Week in Germany (as a rookie for the Chemnitz ChemCats) on Jan. 25, 2015 en route to All-DBBL recognition, and in Turkey on March 17, 2016 on the way to earning All-TKBL Second Team status with Urla Belediyesi Sport.

Schlemer, whose 323 rebounds for Cal Poly in 2013-14 set a single-season school record, shot 53.4 percent this year for Edirne (10-21), including .313 from 3-point range, and made 82.2 percent of her free throws. She also added 2.1 assists per game. 

Deniz Boz of Mersin MBK, which won the title over Izmit taking the series 3-1, claimed this year's Finals MVP trophy, while Bodrum's Sasha Goodlett was named 2017-18 Player of the Year.
