Cal Poly Tied for Seventh After First Round of Monterey Bay Invitational

MONTEREY, Calif. – Led by Taylor Yoshitake, the Cal Poly women's golf team is tied for seventh place with Wichita State after the first of three rounds of play Sunday in the Monterey Bay Invitational hosted by Missouri State at the Del Monte Golf Course.

Yoshitake (pictured at right) carded an 80 on the 6,018-yard, par-72 course and is tied for 20th place with five other golfers entering the second round of play Monday morning.

Mustang teammates Asia Adell and Caitlin Farley both recorded 81s and are tied for 26th place while Alex Phillips and Kirsten Locke share 42nd place with 84s.

Cal Poly accumulated a four-person 326 score. Missouri State leads with a 303 total, followed by Winthrop at 315 and Houston Baptist at 317. There are 14 schools and 82 individuals in the 54-hole event.

Competing as individuals, Cal Poly's Laura Howard is tied for 11th place with a 78 while Morgan Thomas shot 81 for 26th place.

Final round is Tuesday morning.
