SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif – After last Sunday's match at UC Riverside was postponed due to rain, the Cal Poly women's tennis team returns to home to entertain CSUN at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Cal Poly (1-6, 0-1) fell to No. 40 Long Beach State last Saturday, 6-1, as redshirt freshman Zoe Oedekerk rallied at No. 6 singles to defeat Laura Eales, 4-6, 6-1. 6-0.
Oedekerk improved to 8-6 overall in singles and remained unbeaten at No. 6 (2-0).
Redshirt junior Bryn Bacharach is currently second on the team with five singles victories, while sophomore Emily Gibbens has four singles wins this season.
Three other players – including senior Hannah Stone, junior Danè Joubert and sophomore Sayaka Tsugai – also have four singles victories.
In doubles, Cal Poly boasts two pairs that have registered three victories this season, including the tandem of Tsugai and freshman Molly Reed and the duo of Oedekerk and Stone.
CSUN (4-0, 3-0) is coming off a 4-3 win over Cal State Fullerton last Saturday. The Matadors led 3-0 after sweeping the doubles point and winning the first two singles points, and needed a win at No. 6 to capture the match.
