FRESNO – The Cal Poly women's tennis team fell to Fresno State 6-1 Friday evening in Fresno, Calif.
The Mustangs started the match off in doubles play, where Abby Bacharach and Celine Gruaz fell to Olivia Noble and Galina Bykova on court three 6-1. Seriana Saltzen and Molly Reed fell to Emma Wilson and Georgia Lawson on court one 6-3, giving Fresno State the doubles point.
Down 1-0, the Mustangs started singles play, where Susanne Boyden lost her first singles match of the season, as she fell to Katerina Stloukalova 6-1, 6-1 on court one.
Bacharach took on Juliane Triebe on court four, where she fell 6-0, 6-3., while Gruaz fell to Lawson on court five 6-1, 6-3, which clinched the match for Fresno State.
Sayaka Tsugai fell to Noble on court six 7-5, 6-1. Reed put the Mustangs' first point on the board after pushing Bykova to three sets and winning 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 on court three.
Saltzen put up a fight against Wilson put fell 7-6(5), 7-5 on court two, making it a 6-1 match.
The Mustangs are now 0-8 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.
Cal Poly will be back on the courts on Friday March 11 to take on Nevada on the road, and then Gonzaga on Saturday in a neutral match in Reno, Nev.
