Cal Poly Women’s Tennis Downs Pacific 4-3

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.— For the first time since 2014, the Cal Poly women's tennis team beat Pacific Saturday 4-3 at Mustang Tennis Courts to snap a four-match losing streak.

The Mustangs, now 3-5 this season, won the doubles point after wins by the duo of senior Molly Reed and sophomore Seriana Saltzen (pictured above) at the No. 1 spot as well as junior Caroline Williams and freshman Grace Olyphant at the No. 3 spot. Reed and Saltzen beat the Tigers' Karina Vyrlan and Anneroos Nederstigt 6-1. Williams and Olyphant beat Anna Ramos Vinolas and Yuki Asami 6-1.

In singles play, Saltzen made quick work of Vyrlan at the No. 2 spot, winning 6-0, 6-2. She improved her overall record in singles play this season to 4-4. At the No. 5 spot, Olyphant beat Nederstigt 6-2, 6-2. Olyphant is now 3-3 in singles play for the season.

Playing at the No. 3 position, Reed clinched the win for Cal Poly by beating Pacific's Dohee Lee 6-3, 6-4 for her third win in a row in singles play. She is now 5-3 on the season.

Cal Poly remains at home to take on UC Davis Sunday at 11 a.m. at Mustang Tennis Courts.
