Women’s Tennis’ Olyphant, Bouquet and Ackerman Record Wins at SMC Invitational
 
MORAGA, Calif. — Cal Poly women's tennis' Grace Olyphant, Claire Bouquet and Emily Ackerman combined to win four singles matches and two doubles matches at the Saint Mary's College Fall Invitational over the weekend in Moraga.

The three competed against players from some of the top schools on the west coast, including PAC-12 schools.

Olyphant (pictured above), began the tournament by beating Santa Clara's Caitlyn Frankel 6-1, 6-1. The sophomore later took down Stanford's Elizabeth Yao in a match that came down to a third set super tiebreaker 3-6, 6-3, 10-7.

In doubles, Olyphant teamed up with freshman Emily Ackerman and picked up two wins on the weekend. They first beat Santa Clara's Gevargiz and Schroer 8-4. They later defeated Fresno State's Hummel and Ellis 8-4.

In singles, Ackerman recorded her first win as a Mustang Saturday against Santa Clara's Natalie Del Carmen 6-3, 7-5 to go along with her two doubles wins on the weekend.

Bouquet, a junior, recorded a singles win over Academy of Art's Kristina Gross in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. She fell in her other two matches but in close fashion with one match going three sets and the other in two very close sets.

The Mustangs next tournament will be the ITA Northwest Regional in Palo Alto beginning October 18.
