Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Weekend at ITA Northwest Regionals

STANFORD, Calif. — Freshman Kim Bhunu reached the round of 32 in the women's singles main draw bracket, junior Susanne Boyden and sophomore Grace Olyphant reached the round of 16 in the women's doubles main draw bracket, and junior Claire Bouquet finished 3-1 in singles to highlight the Mustangs women's tennis team weekend at the ITA Northwest Regionals in Stanford.

Bhunu reached the round of 32 by defeating Seattle's Hannah Gianan in the first round 6-4, 7-5. She then swept Portland's Raphaelle Leblanc 6-0, 7-6 (7) to reach the round of 32 before falling to the No. 9 seed in Stanford's Niluka Madurwae 6-4, 6-0.

In the doubles main draw, Boyden and Olyphant beat Portland's Leblanc and Schuster in the first round 8-3. They then took down Sacramento State's Dorian and Ugarkovic 8-2 before falling to the No. 3 seed of Stanford's Melissa Lord and Janice Shin 8-2.

Bouquet won her first round singles match over Gonzaga's Katie Day 6-1, 7-6 (5) before losing in the second round to move her to the consolation bracket. There, she beat Sacramento State's Carolina Chernyetsky 7-5, 6-3 on Saturday and Eastern Washington's Yasmin Mansouri 6-4, 7-5 for a weekend record of 3-1.

Elsewhere, Olyphant won two singles matches and Boyden picked up one singles win. Olyphant beat Eastern Washington's Mansouri 7-6 (1), 6-0 and UC Davis' Isabella vonEbbe. Boyden defeated San Jose State's A. Pedrero Galindo 2-6, 6-3, 10-3.

The Mustangs will wrap up their fall schedule starting November 9 at the San Diego State Fall Invitational.
