Worsnop Collects Consolation Title At Final Fall Tournament

SAN DIEGO — Sophomore Mackenzie Worsnop took home a consolation championship Sunday as the Cal Poly women's tennis team wrapped up its fall tournament schedule at the San Diego State Fall Invitational.

After moving to the Flight C Singles Consolation bracket, Worsnop defeated Marquette's Elizabeth Desmarais 6-7(4), 6-1, 6-4. She then took down Colorado's Annabelle Andrinopoulos in straight sets (6-4, 6-2) in the final.

Elsewhere for the Mustangs, freshman Kim Bhunu advanced to the finals of the Flight B Singles Consolation bracket after beating Marquette's Alexandrina Chinikova 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 before falling to Colorado's Megan Forster 6-1, 6-2.

Sophomore Grace Olyphant made it to the semifinals of the Flight D Singles bracket after defeating Shakhnoza Khatamova 7-6 (10), 6-4 and junior Claire Bouquet defeated Marquette's Lesley Foe in match play 6-0, 6-2.

The Mustangs begin their spring season January 11 when they head to the Cal Winter Invitational for a three-day tournament .
