Cal Poly Women’s Tennis Finishes Day Two at Cal Winter Invite

BERKELEY, Calif. — The Cal Poly women's tennis team completed day two of the Cal Winter Invitational in Berkeley Saturday by taking on the host Golden Bears in singles and Saint Mary's in doubles.

Taking on three Cal players who are ranked inside the ITA Top 60, Cal Poly competed hard playing its first singles contests of the season but fell in all six of its matches. However, senior Caroline Williams won her first set 6-4 over Cal's Katerina Stloukalova to push her to three sets.

In doubles against the Gaels, the Mustangs once again fought hard. Cal Poly's doubles pairing of freshman Kim Bhunu (pictured) and junior Emily Louie-Meadors pushed Saint Mary's Hind Abdelouahid and Chloe Goyette to a deciding tiebreaker after coming back from down 2-5 and fighting off four match points, winning the tiebreaker 7-5 to win the match 7-6.

The Mustangs will begin their final day of the tournament Sunday at 10 a.m. by taking on Cal for three doubles matches followed by five singles matches against Fresno State.
