DAVIS, Calif. — Playing in its Big West opener on the road, the Cal Poly women's tennis team fell to UC Davis Saturday 4-3.

The Aggies (3-5, 2-2 BWC) took the doubles point after 6-3 wins at both the one and two spots.

The Mustangs (2-5, 0-1 BWC) quickly tied things up once singles started after a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 5 position by freshman Emily Ackerman. She has now won her last three singles matches.

Cal Poly took a 2-1 lead after junior Claire Bouquet (pictured) blanked UC Davis' Skyler Holm in consecutive sets 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 spot. That was followed by a win at the No. 2 position by junior Susanne Boyden in straight sets 6-4, 6-0. Boyden remains unbeaten in singles this season at 3-0.

From there, the Aggies rallied back to win at No. 4, No. 1 and No. 3 singles to seal the win 4-3.

Cal Poly will stay in Northern California to play at Pacific Sunday at noon.
