Cal Poly Women’s Tennis Ends Regular Season With Saturday Loss at UCSB

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — The Cal Poly women's tennis program ended its regular season Saturday at UCSB, falling to the first-place Gauchos 4-0.

The Mustangs (7-11, 3-5 BWC) finish the regular season sixth in the Big West standings.

The Gauchos (13-7, 7-1 BWC) won the doubles point after wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.

In singles, UCSB's Amit Lev-Ari beat junior Emily Louie-Meadors 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot to put the Gauchos up 2-0. Dominika Paterova then won at the No. 4 position over senior Caroline Williams 6-2, 6-1. UCSB then clinched the match after Stephanie Yamada beat sophomore Grace Olyphant 6-2, 6-1.

With the regular season now over, Cal Poly prepares to compete in next weekend's Big West Tournament at Indian Wells in Palm Springs, Calif. The tournament starts Thursday, April 25 and runs through Sunday, April 28. Last year, the Mustangs advanced to the semifinals of the tournament for the first time since 2010.
