Cal Poly Women’s Tennis Performs Strong in Final Fall Season Event

STANFORD, Calif. — Playing its final event of the fall portion of its 2019-20 season, the Cal Poly women's tennis team had some strong performances at the ITA Northwest Regional at Stanford this past weekend.

On Friday in the first day of the event, senior Susanne Boyden (pictured) and freshman Delanie Dunkle both picked up two wins each in singles in the first two rounds of the draw. In doubles, the duos of freshmen Melissa LaMette and Dominique Stone, Boyden and sophomore Emily Ackerman, as well as Dunkle and senior Emily Monaghan all won their first round matches.

On Saturday, Monaghan, Stone, LaMette, and senior Claire Bouquet each won their singles matches in the consolation draw. Dunkle and Boyden both lost in the Round of 32 in the main draw in singles and all three doubles pairs who won Friday lost in the Round of 32.

In the consolation draws on Sunday, Boyden, Stone, Monaghan, Ackerman, and Bouquet all finished the weekend with wins in singles. In doubles, Ackerman and Boyden ended their weekend with a win.

Cal Poly will open its 2020 season at the Cal Winter Invitational, January 10-12.
