Cal Poly Volleyball Heads to Stanford

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly volleyball team will be on the road for the third straight week to take on No. 9 Stanford and No. 20 Purdue at the Stanford Invitational.

After defeating No. 19 Western Kentucky at the Marcia E. Hamilton Classic in St. Louis, the Mustangs are now 4-2 on the season.

Alexis Clewis led the team in kills, with 44 for the weekend, while Adlee Van Winden had 37 and Raeann Greisen had 34.

Taylor Nelson had 133 assists, contributing to her season overall of 253.

Clewis was the Marcia E. Hamilton MVP, while Nelson and Taylor Gruenewald were All-Tournament.

The Mustangs will take on Purdue Saturday at 4 p.m. and then take on Stanford on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Cal Poly is 2-2 against Purdue, and this will be their first meeting since 2007. The Mustangs have played Stanford 20 times, as they are 8-12 since the first time meeting in 1979.
