SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Cal Poly volleyball team will be hosting UC Santa Barbara in the Blue-Green Rivalry this Friday in Mott Athletics Center.
After going 1-1 last weekend, the Mustangs are now 13-7 overall and 6-3 in conference play, putting them third in the Big West Conference, right after Long Beach State and Hawai'i.
Junior Taylor Nelson is No. 1 in the conference for overall assists with 870 (11.60), as well as conference assists with 387 (12.09). Nelson's assists have helped land the Mustangs at the No. 1 spot in the conference for overall assists.
The Mustangs also lead the conference in kills with 1064 (14.19) overall and 472 (14.75) in the conference.
Sophomore Adlee Van Winden sits at the No. 5 spot in the conference for both conference and overall and kills with 124 (3.88) and 273 (3.64) respectively.
Junior Raeann Greisen has put up 263 kills this season (3.51) and 133 in conference play (4.16), putting her at the No. 7 spot for overall kills and the No. 3 spot for conference kills.
Also leading the Mustangs in kills is sophomore Alexis Clewis, who is now only the third Mustang to reach 200 kills this season.
Cal Poly is No. 2, right behind Hawai'i in overall hitting percentage, with .250 and third in conference matches with .257.
Senior Taylor Gruenewald is third in the conference for overall hitting percentage with .370, and eighth in the conference for conference matches .342.
The Mustangs have an overall .250 attack percentage and have 146.5 total blocks.
The Gauchos will be coming into this weekend's match 4-5 in the conference and with one loss against the Mustangs this season.
Despite the Mustang's recent sweep over the Gauchos, Cal Poly still trails UCSB 29-48 since the teams first met in 1979.
The rivalry match will start Friday Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. in Mott Athletics Center.
