SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Cal Poly volleyball team is set to host UC Davis in its last match of the season Tuesday night in Mott Athletics Center.
The Mustangs will go into their final match of the season 17-9 overall and 10-5 in conference play while currently holding down the No. 3 spot in the Big West Conference.
The Mustangs have had a very successful season, as they have been holding down No.1 spots in the Big West as a team and as individuals.
Cal Poly has been leading the conference in kills and assists for almost the whole season.
Junior Taylor Nelson is not only leading the team and the conference in assists, she is one of the nation's leaders, as she holds down the No. 6 spot for the NCAA in assists.
Sophomore Katherine Brouker is another Mustang who has earned her spot in the conference's top ten in digs, as she has tallied 415 this season.
Gruenewald is second in the conference for overall hitting percentage with a .360, while freshman Jessica McRoskey is in the top 10 for service aces with 96.
The Mustangs have tallied a total of 1360 kills, 1287 assists, 119 service aces, 1448 digs, and 180 total blocks this season.
The Mustangs have had a balanced effort in leading them to a winning season, including beating a ranked team.
This will be the second time this season that the Mustangs have taken on UC Davis. The mustangs beat the Aggies in their last match and are looking to take the lead in overall wins against Davis, as the teams are tied with each other 12-12 since they first met.
Tuesday's match will begin at 7 p.m. in Mott Athletics Center.
